Viewing Messages
Opening a Message
To view an archived email, click on any message in the search results list. The message will open in the message viewer, showing you the full content of the email along with key metadata. The viewer displays the sender, recipients (To and CC), subject line, and the date and time the email was sent.
Reading the Message Body
The message body is displayed below the header information. If the original email was sent in HTML format, you will see the formatted version with styling, links, and inline images as the sender intended. Many emails include both an HTML and a plain text version.
You can switch between the HTML and plain text views using the HTML/Text toggle button in the message toolbar. The plain text view is useful when the HTML formatting is cluttered or when you want to see the raw text content without styling. Some emails may only have one format available, in which case the toggle will not be shown.
Viewing Message Headers
For technical analysis or compliance purposes, you may need to inspect the full email headers. Click the Headers button or expand the header section in the message view to see the complete set of email headers. These include:
- From / To / CC / BCC: All sender and recipient addresses
- Date: The exact date and time the email was sent
- Message-ID: The unique identifier assigned to the email
- Received: The chain of mail servers the message passed through
- Content-Type: Information about the message format and encoding
- X-headers: Any custom headers added by the sender's email system
This information can be critical for verifying the authenticity of an email or tracing its delivery path.
Working with Attachments
If the email contains attachments, they are listed in a dedicated section below the message body. Each attachment shows its file name, file type, and file size. To download an attachment, simply click on it.
For common file types such as images and PDFs, you may also see a preview option that lets you view the content directly in the browser without downloading the file first.
Navigating Between Messages
After opening a message, you can navigate to the next or previous message in your search results using the arrow buttons in the toolbar. This lets you quickly review multiple messages without returning to the results list each time. To go back to the full results list, click the Back to results button or use your browser's back button.
